Hey, y’all, she’s back! Paula Deen reemerges

For the first time since Paula Deen’s scandal (her admitting to and apologizing for using racial slurs), she is back in the spotlight, but not because she has lost another business deal, but because she has a new restaurant about to open.

Deen will be opening “Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen” in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, in the same giant retail center as Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant and right up the road from Dollywood.

Many expected her to fade into oblivion after being punished by most of her partners for the scandal, losing deals with the Food Network, Target, Walmart, Sears, JCPenney, and Home Depot, among others.

But in true Deen fashion, she is coming back with a bang, and not some little rinky dink restaurant, but her company, Paula Deen Ventures raised roughly $100 million to get off of the ground, and their first project will be this massive 20,000 square foot eatery with a $20 million operating budget, seeking to compete in a tourist-heavy town that sees over 10 million visitors every year.

If Deen can do it, anyone can

While Paula Deen may not be America’s buttery sweetheart anymore, investors believe in her and are endorsing her with their own money as she pushes forward. She’s going to be quite alright, in fact, she appears to be getting back on her feet, and there’s nothing America loves more than a comeback tale.

Remember, next time you do a “reply all” email and want to hide under your desk, or your client overhears you calling him a “fat slob,” or you accidentally say “love you, bye” to your boss on the phone and then cringe in silence for an hour, think of Paula Deen. She shoved her foot into her moouth and pretty much down her own throat, but she apologized, has worked hard to repair her image, and is on the verge of slamming open the doors of what will likely be one of the most successful restaurants in the state. If Paula Deen can recover from this, you can recover from ANYTHING.
