New commercial real estate community
Commercial real estate is one of the most guarded, legacy industries in the nation, with a small segment pushing for transparency and open information that is traditionally behind paywalls and held privately behind closed doors. Pushing to improve the industry through transparency is the freshly launched askCRE, a new Q&A community for commercial real estate, with a twist.
The company is designed so that users can collaboratively edit questions, ask questions, and of course, answer questions. Additionally, users can vote answers up or down as the community collaborates toward finding a consistent answer. The company says, “our goal is to help find a consensus to questions as the best answers are voted up by the community.”
The founders were frustrated by various forums and email lists that didn’t provide a clear or consistent answer, which we believe causes confusion and protects the legacy of hidden information.
Here are five questions in the new community that give you an idea of what kind of information is already being shared:
- What are your top commercial real estate data sources?
- Are digital signatures valid on a CRE contract?
- Are CPI increases enough on a 5 year lease?
- How do expense stops work?
- Who pays for snow removal on roof in NNN lease?
