8 Ways To Stomp the Net With Your Content

There’s no question that content drives the net. It would make sense then to make sure the content you produce (for search engines, for lead generation, for status building) gets noticed… in a big and noticeable way. And gets you the traffic you deserve.

See, as bloggers and social media users, the content we produce is what attracts people to us – whether they be readers, followers, subscribers, visitors, or even search engines. We use content to attract and convert. It’s how many of us grow our businesses and build influence in the markets we serve.

Clearly, as content creators (and marketers!) we want to cast our content far and wide. Fortunately, there’s no shortage of ways to put your content on the fast track to syndication success.

Leverage your site

1. Page/Post Title and Description: A killer blog post title is often the determining factor of whether a post gets read (and spread). Blogging software also converts that post title into your page meta title. Some blog themes (Thesis for wordpress ) will also allow you to tweak page descriptions. If it’s a static page then make sure you pay attention to the page title and description meta-tags.

2. Add a Tweetmeme button: Tweetmeme makes it easy for readers to share your story on Twitter. Cool thing is, it shortens the URL and tracks and displays how many tweets your story’s received.

Use this code on your pages:

<script type="text/javascript" src="https://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js"></script>

WordPress users can grab the Tweetmeme plugin.

3. Use the Sociable plugin: Sociable is a cool WordPress plugin for readers to promote your content on a wide number of social sites. Easily customized and configured (yay!)

Leverage the networks

4. Tweet it: You have followers on Twitter for a reason – they’re interested in what you have to share. Share links to your content on Twitter. A few retweets later and your content can spread far and wide thanks to the networks of followers.

5. Post on Facebook: I’m not a big Facebook user but plenty of folks are (a plethora to be exact). Simply post a link from your Facebook account. If you have Twitter update your Facebook then you’re ahead of the game.

6. Post on LinkedIn: If you use LinkedIn it makes sense to post your quality content there. Makes you look like the pro that you are.

7. Post on specialty networks: Are you active on ActiveRain or other specialty network? Maybe even a social network for your local area. Makes sense to link to your content from there, aswell.

Leverage content sites

8. Submit to article directories: Article directories such as ezinearticles are huge treasure chests of content – Google loves them. When you submit your content to these you’re allowed to post a footer for each article. You guessed it, that’s a good place to post a call to action with a link back to your site. Cool thing is, publishers re-post these articles on their sites along with that backlink.

Stomp the net

This list is by no means exhaustive but should give you a heads up as to how to make sure your content gets picked up and spread. The more your content spreads the more you rise in influence in the search engines and with your market.

Obviously, the better your content then the more your fans will pick it up and carry it further than you ever could do on your own.

What else can we do to stomp the net with our content?
