Accompl.sh – social network all about setting and meeting goals

Improve your chances of meeting your goals

There is nothing more rewarding that making a task list in the morning and checking off menial tasks, but our new year’s resolutions or our life goals often go ignored because they’re not front and center – not because they’re not important but because how do you include a bucket list in your daily goals? Moreover, how do you hold yourself accountable and challenged to meet your bigger life goals?

All of these questions are answered by Accompl.sh which allows you to sign up to create various lists of goals that you can share with friends or the community overall and you can even join challenges to accomplish goals with others. The social component of Accompl.sh is fascinating because some people achieve goals out of shame of failure, while others accomplish goals because of peer pressure or motivation from others, and yet others are overachievers that simply like to manage their goals.

Lifehacker.com describes the service, “Accompl.sh makes you write down at least 10 goals before it will let you “lock them” for 365 days. Once you’ve “locked” your goal list, it feeds the green-yellow-red progress bar you see upon logging in (and which gets emailed to you, at your discretion). You can share your goal list to Facebook if you’d like, make your goal list public on the web, and connect with friends who also have goals listed at the site, trading encouragements and gently stealing ideas from one another.”

Why push yourself so hard to accomplish your non-daily goals? “If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things,” said Albert Einstein. Further, Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Always do what you are afraid to do.”

One last thought before you set out to create goals and motivate yourself and others about said goals from Winston Churchill, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Brilliant.
