This time of year, you and your smartphone are less concerned with coupon apps, exercise apps and time tracking apps and are more concerned with apps that will help you with tax day, looming around the corner.
Because the iPhone and Android have the largest portion of users of any smartphones, we’ve chosen to focus on those, but several of these also have BlackBerry apps and otherwise.
We’ll start by saying that the tech blogs are all ultra excited about apps like the TurboTax Snap Tax app that let you take a picture of your W2 and in seconds you’ve filed. But as a Realtor, you’re not in the world of W2 and your efforts to find any smartphone apps to assist with your taxes are coming up fruitless because the world just doesn’t understand your W2-less world!
Free H&R Block app
The H&R Block app is available for iPhone and Android and offers customized checklists, a tax estimator, access to a video gallery and a quick glossary to help you along the way. Being an H&R Block client isn’t required and the app is free.
If you’re expecting a rebate and want to track it or you’re one of those people that wants to connect with the IRS on Twitter, then their new app is for you.
Perhaps one of the best ways to prepare for tax season is to take the preemptive measure of being organized all along. For self employed people like you, keeping track of your finances and being able to visualize them is key for budgeting as well as filing taxes.
The Tax Organizer app offers a 30 day free trial and calls itself “audit protection.” Users can take pictures all year of receipts and tag them according to category, making tax day a lot easier. It’s simple for field agents and those with an aversion to keeping paper receipts.
