Productivity. The buzz word of offices, scheduling, and mobile dealings for quite some time. Email is a large part of our productivity chain, but typically falls short in certain areas. For instance, if you need to check your notes for a meeting, you flip over to Evernote or Dropox; if you need to check in with a co-worker, you may hop on Trello. Basically, email is a useful tool, but you need other tools to be at your most productive. Augment can help boost your productivity by connecting your email with cloud applications; allowing you to integrate all your favorite apps with Gmail, in a single view.
Currently, you can connect with Github, Todoist, Asana, Dropbox, Trello, Evernote, and Google’s Calendar, with more app connections on the way. You connect these apps one-by-one, allowing you to use one, or all of these apps. Once you’re connected, you will see the services under the Augment dropdown list right inside your Gmail inbox.
How Augment works
Each time you open an email, you’ll see a list of the Augmented apps at the top of the email. It can take a few seconds to load, but once it does you can take action right from your email. Have an appointment in Trello? Add it directly to your Google Calendar. Need to save that attachment? Send it right to Dropbox. No more toggling between apps.
While the list of connectable apps may not be as extensive, you can think of Augment as a bit like IFTTT; a viable solution for making apps work well together, while saving you the time and hassle of opening and closing each app. I mentioned Trello and Google Calender, but it also very handy for Evernote and Todoist users.
You can even use Evernote without leaving Gmail
Evernote is a great place to store those last-minute details that you’re prone to forgetting (if you’re anything like me) and then, thanks to Augment, you can send these details on to your team without leaving your email. Also, if you are prone to forgetting details, use Todoist and it will remind you when the meeting is, who you need to respond to, and anything else you need to do later, without leaving your email. Great tool to multitask, without actually spending the time multitasking.
Bottom line: if you use most of the services that can be “augmented” this will save you a ton of time and boost your productivity.
