Meet your new #BASHH friend of friends, Parker
Sometimes it’s easier to go to your first BASHH or feel compelled to seek out new people if you have some familiar faces to approach, so in that spirit, meet Parker Short, a newlywed Austinite who has been going to BASHH since before it was ever even called BASHH. He’s been massively supportive of the event and even saved the day once when we all got technesia and couldn’t remember how a simple slideshow worked.
We asked Parker to give us his impressions about BASHH; the following is unfiltered and in his own words:
Tell us about your first BASHH
I first came to BASHH back when it was still BATHH and pretty much just consisted of people on Twitter. It seemed like everyone I followed was always tweeting about it, so I figured it’d be fun to attend and meet some more of these people in person. I was right. Since then it’s become a bit of an institution.
What is it that keeps you coming back?
It’s a lot of fun. There’s always such a wide variety of people there – It’s interesting to see who you’ll meet each time. It seems like each time I go, I run into someone who’s just there for their first time, which makes for an exciting event. It really helps make Austin feel smaller.
What connections have you made at BASHH?
Lots. Inevitably you end up making new connections and running into old friends each time. It’s the one time I can count on running into a lot of familiar faces while still meeting people who are new to Austin.
Tell us more about yourself, where can we connect!?
I’m one-half of Jaxzen Marketing Strategies, a marketing company focused on inbound marketing and HubSpot. I’ve been in Austin for three and a half years. I just got married this past summer to my wife, Lindsay, and we enjoy running, breweries, and trailer food.
