Meet a #BASHHer right now!

Whether you’re a #BASHH vet and haven’t bumped into Monica yet, or about to embark on your first #BASHH and want to see a familiar face, meet Monica Ortíz! We love her because she’s fun, wicked witty, and so approachable. Below, in her own words, is her #BASHH experience – we hope you’ll shake her hand, hug her, bond with her over shared passions, or just say hi to her (and of course connect with her online in advance to make it even easier)!

Tell us about your first BASHH

I was scolded by @baconator and @GunGeekATX for missing months of BASHH’s (then BATHH: Big Ass Twitter Happy Hour), so my first time joining was at the former Union Park. That time featured Annie Ray’s photo booth, drink tickets, and a rooftop patio: which part of this didn’t I like? None of it. Not a one.

What is it that keeps you coming back?

My first BASHH I made new connections who post hilarious, thought-provoking commentary and now I get to see them almost every month. But let’s not forget involuntarily starting a dance floor at well-DJ’d BASHH’s. Happens every time.

What connections have you made at BASHH?

Numerous! I meet new folks each time and still get to catch up with friendly faces. I’ve run into artists, comedians, dancers, executives, musicians, realtors, bloggers, foodies, dog trainers, experts, intermediates, beginners, Yelpers, old/current/fantasy coworkers. On that note, I think I’m going to start drafting my team of Fantasy Companies.

Tell us more about yourself, where can we connect!?

I chose my Twitter handle because I dig mermaids more than most adults would admit to. Pulp Fiction remains in my top movie picks of all time. You can usually find me in a brainstorm, and costume brainstorming rules. I miss Rock Band and Rickrolling. I need a periodic dose of Latin dancing, hiking, beach time and Karaoke Apocalypse (look them up!). I relish multiple-birds-with-one-stone effectiveness, and that triggers communal Get Stuff Done Days. I’m really into personal and career development, and I’m looking for a new challenge.
