BrightCaller: New tool aims to boost productivity, but may fall short

BrightCaller launches in beta

Recently, BrightCaller tweeted that they were soon launching their beta site to the public. According to their website, their service is the “future of productivity.” Every morning, one of their dedicated personal callers will contact you to help you stay focused on your goals. It is motivation and accountability.

BrightCaller offers three features, according to the website.

  1. It tracks your goals.
  2. You receive weekly reports from your BrightCaller. It’s a personalized summary of what you did over the week.
  3. You can manage your calendar. The caller helps you stay on top of meetings and events, such as birthdays.

BrightCallers are more that goal trackers

They are “intelligent, native English speakers” who want to help you stay productive. You get to know your BrightCaller personally, and they are extremely flexible. You can track long term goals, send daily compliments, and receive the motivation you need to reach your goals. BrightCallers adjust to your own personal needs.

You can sign up for early access to the service, but there is no information about the monthly cost. They are offering discounts for signing up your friends or retweeting their advertisements. I emailed the company for more information, but did not receive any response to my inquiry.

When looking at BrightCaller’s Twitter followers, the list is not that big. Currently it has just 320. On its website, it says that employees from the most respected companies in the world use their service to stay productive. This includes Facebook, Google, Uber, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.

However, BrightCaller does not reciprocate with links to their presence on these companies. Their only link to social media is a Twitter account. The BrightCaller Facebook page has one like. There’s nothing wrong with having a new social media account, but being inaccessible and non-responsive is problematic.

While this looks like a great idea, you can use your own calendar to set up reminders for meetings and events. Get a solid mentor or friend to help you stay accountable to your goals. Relationships where you meet and enjoy fellowship will be much more beneficial to your overall well-being.
