Travel photos top the sharing charts
Spend any time on any social media platform, and you’ll notice that one of the most shared content is that of faraway locations. Travel photos top Instagram content, with over 3.8 million travel-related photos posted in June. Facebook released a survey earlier this year indicating that about 83 percent of users don’t take a vacation from the net, enjoying access to the web when they’re on holiday.
Taking vacation photos isn’t always easy. First, it’s all too easy to just forget to get your camera out. You get caught up in the beauty of the environment or what you’re doing. When you get in bed, you realize that you didn’t get any pictures. “Oh, well. We’ll do better tomorrow.”
Second, when you’re taking pictures, unless you have a selfie stick, you don’t get pictures of yourself. These photos are great for your memories, but do absolutely nothing for those who love you and want to see you.
Travel companies bundling photographers into offering
Travel companies are now offering personal photographers to follow you around on your vacation and get snapshots. The companies use locals who know the area and can help direct tourists to the best sites while taking those photographic moments. At the end of the day, the photographer shares a set of photos to the traveler that they can upload to their social media accounts and save for a photojournal when they get home.
This service isn’t for just anyone. If you aren’t comfortable in front of the camera, then it may be more distracting than fun. But it does give you the chance to travel light and not worry about carrying more electronics with you. With a good photographer, you won’t notice them, but you’ll certainly appreciate their eye. Getting a good picture is more than just the people or the location. It’s the mood and style.
How many times have your friends said, “pictures, or it didn’t happen” on your social media feed? Your digital footprint needs to include photos as part of your memories. Make it happen on vacation with a professional.
