For all of their high end suburban listings, Halstead Property is offering Drone Helicopter Imagery which is a remote operated helicopter using an “ultra high resolution camera” to give their listings new depth. The company offers services in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. We are seeing a variety of creative methods being used for real estate photography, and while this is more costly, thus likely restricted in the industry to costly listings, it is a method that is attractive, especially for sizable properties.
“There is a difference between a traditional helicopter photo and remote operated drone that we use,” Halstead.com Director of Web Marketing, Matthew Leone told AGBeat. “Our drone helicopter shoots from angles no photographer or helicopter can get to so it makes that property stand out. It shows the land without losing the luster of the house. It is a water cooler moment for these sellers, when they see it they can’t believe it. It is an experience and if you can give that to your seller you separate the agent from the pack.”
The American Genius is news, insights, tools, and inspiration for business owners and professionals. AG condenses information on technology, business, social media, startups, economics and more, so you don’t have to.

That's slick, but how much does it cost to rent the drone? I suspect the $50 copters they sell in the mall won't cut it…

Very nice! I suspect a lot of the cost would be in your time learning to fly the helicopter. Not realistic for the mainstream but certainly worth keeping an eye on.
