Many Realtors utilize billboard advertising with relatively predictable designs- a head shot or logo, a phone number and a slogan about their superiority, likely with a primary color as the background. It is an expensive advertising endeavor but one that can pay off in major ways in certain areas. It is more frequently an option for teams or brokerages, but top producers often go it alone.
Perhaps another approach to billboard advertising could work- threats.
Yes, threats. Hear me out… a Netherlands billboard company has large billboards on the highways and are currently changing the ads every morning in some of their most heavily trafficked area with the text “the sooner you advertise here, the better.”
The series is very provocative and has us cracking up, but most importantly, it has a real estate web magazine based in Texas talking about their campaign. Word of mouth is still a key ingredient in any marketing campaign and perhaps a humorous approach or a word-of-mouth-worthy approach could maximize any of your ad campaigns.
I’m sure someone will buy the ad space, but just in case, I wouldn’t want to be in the Netherlands on the final day of their ad campaign, would you?
