Redefining how businesses are found
Your mood can greatly determine how your day progresses and which activities you choose to participate in. Whether you’re feeling energetic or mellow, quirky or melancholy, you can find the right activity to match your current mood. But sometimes that’s hard to figure out on your own, even if you’re a native to your city. This was the inspiration behind the creation of Moodfish.
The young startup was founded in Austin, Texas in July of 2011 and has since spread to include the cities of Minneapolis and San Francisco. Moodfish was co-founded by Nikhil Daftary, who is the CEO. Daftary has both a Bachelor’s in Marketing and Finance and an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Marketing, and doesn’t believe that the traditional startup model is the best solution in today’s economy. With that in mind, Moodfish was born.
While the concept of Moodfish can seem a bit confusing, it’s actually pretty simple and very unique. First, you choose the category of entertainment or activity you’re in mood for. You can choose between movies, dining, music, art, or an active or social activity. Next, pick which city you currently live or the city you’re visiting. As of now, your three options are the same as mentioned above — Austin, Minneapolis, or San Francisco. The next step is the most interesting. You can add one mood or you can make a mood recipe. You can add your moods manually by identifying which mood is the strongest and which ones are considered more secondary moods. Your choice of moods include mellow, melancholy, sunny, intense, energetic, quirky, and sensual.
Choosing a mood recipe
You can also choose a mood recipe option which consists of “Romantic Date Night,” “Hot & Sweaty Dance Night,” and “Sunny Bliss.” Once you determine your moods and which activity you want to do, Moodfish gives you many options from which to choose. It will detail the venue or activity, and it will even give you the option to make a reservation right on the spot or visit the website to learn more about it. What could be more convenient than that?
While there are only three cities and seven emotions from which to choose, you can expect to see more in the near future. Moodfish is continually working on finding additional venues and activities and matching them to new moods. Moodfish is an exciting new startup for both consumers and those who own venues and restaurants. Moodfish has the potential to redefine local businesses and how customers find them. And that will do wonders for our current downturned economy.
