Cushion is designed just for freelancers
Cushion app launched in beta testing earlier this year, and in July it opened to the public. It’s a desktop application for freelancers that lets you track invoices, clients, and projects, to help you manage your time and your income.
By entering this information into Cushion, you can easily see which invoices are outstanding, how much you’ve made each month, and upcoming projects. According to the website, “Cushion will help you manage your unpredictable schedule and bring a calm to your unsteady income.”
The design is simple, genius
It’s obvious that the developers of Cushion really thought about the design. The journal that outlines the process is very interesting. Cushion is just to track your invoices, according to the journal, there’s no intention to add invoicing to the features of Cushion. Currently, it’s only available on your laptop or desktop, not on a mobile app. They do hope to add that in the upcoming months.
Cushion is available for a 14-day free trial, then the cost is $10/month. You do receive a discount if you pay for the entire year. You can use it for team projects, but only one person should manage the account. It works how you do business, whether you bill hourly or by the project. One great thing about Cushion is its simplicity of design.
Might be best for high volume freelancers
I signed up for their 14-day free trial. Personally, I would prefer to keep my data in an excel spread sheet and calendar, but I can see how Cushion would be nice for planning. The learning curve for getting the app set up was too much for me. However, I only have about five clients.
I did have high hopes for the software, because I do struggle with keeping track of my monthly income. You can import from Harvest, FreeAgent, and Freshbooks, which might make it easier. Although it isn’t anything that I would use, if you have a lot of projects and clients and don’t have any other system to organize your invoices and schedule, it might work for you.
