dataSTICKIES: flash drives combined with sticky notes

Super awesome innovation: dataSTICKIES

Using super thin graphene (a form of carbon), dataSTICKIES has designed a concept that could permanently replace flash drives by combining storage with a sticky note you can write on and stick anywhere. Don’t faint, this is real.

The futuristic design would come in a sticky note pad with different storage sizes, from 4GB to 32GB, printed on the top. They would relay data to a computer through a proprietary interface they call Optical Data Transfer Surfaces (ODTS).

Peel and stick memory anywhere!

According to their website, “DataSTICKIES are envisaged to solve this problem by carrying data like a stack of sticky-back notes. Each of the dataSTICKIES can be simply peeled from the stack and stuck anywhere on the proposed ODTS.”

The ODTS is designed to be a thin panel at the top of the graphene flash that is conductive. The dataSTICKIES would stick to any surface, be it a smartphone, tablet, or computer screen, and immediately transfer the data, making the edges of the dataSTICKIES light up.

Why graphene is so cool

The cool thing is that it uses ultra innovative technologies – graphene was only created in a lab a few years ago, combining carbon atoms in a way that create a lattice form, making it the thinnest metal on the planet, and the strongest known to man. It can also withstand massive amounts of heat.

On their website, the company says the dataSTICKIES will come in a variety of colors and patterns and “They can be stacked and used together for increased capacity which also enables carrying them together.”

The next steps

The product has already won an award in its concept phase, and next, they will need to develop the full line, spend more time in research and development, seek funding, and eventually go to production. We hope there are no kinks in the production line, as we cannot wait to get our hands on some dataSTICKIES!
