Real estate folk are beginning to trickle into San Francisco and the first RE BarCamp is almost upon us. Building on the Zebra’s recent post with tips better Connect SF experience, I thought I’d offer up a few more tips for this week especially for the RE BarCamp participants.
1. Dress Casually
It’s going to be a long, fun filled day, so you might as well be comfortable. Think jeans and sneakers instead of suits and ties. Also, don’t forget that Beer with Bloggers is going to be RIGHT NEXT DOOR at Cafe du Nord from 6-8 pm. & this is summer in San Francisco, so be sure to bring your layers.
2. Take public transportation to the event.
Why worry about parking, when the venue is located near downtown and is easily accessible via MUNI (trip planner | nextmuni ) or a short cab ride.
3. Create content.
Twitter, Add Photos to the Flickr group, Record some Utterz, Add to the Wiki, Qik, or do whatever you do. We’re aggregating as much as we can from the event into a live stream at RE BarCamp LIVE! so that we can make this truly interactive. Also, make sure to tag everything rebc.
4. Be sure to observe the “Law of Two Feet”.
If at any time during our time together you find yourself in any situation where you are neither learning nor contributing, use your two feet. Go to some other place where you may learn and contribute.
5. Enjoy yourself!
You’re getting together with a bunch of cool, like minded people who are there to share and have fun. Enjoy the day (& night) and add to the vibe.
I can’t wait to see you all, we’re going to have a great time!

layers. tell me about it. I need someone to explain this weather to me. There has to be a good reason for it.

Multiple light layers of clothing is the way to go. Basically, just make sure that you have a sweatshirt or sweater wherever you go, whether you think you’ll need it or not.

Thanks for the tips Andy! Is everyone just bringing their laptops to beer with bloggers since it is next door?
I am going to ask the question I hope others are just to afraid to ask. I have never used or searched for hashtags. How do we get updates on the hashtags? In twiiter app on iphone? I think I need a tutorial!

Hi Ginger! – Yeah, I was planning on carrying my laptop with me to beer with bloggers. While it’s not ideal, it’s not the end of the world either.
re: Hashtags – They’re primarily used to tag & track Twitter, so when Twittering, make sure that you’re following @hashtags and add #rebc to your tweets. For tagging other content: flickr, blog posts, del.icio.us…etc, a simple “rebc” will do just fine.

Don’t you have to follow @hashtags for it to pick up your hashtag tweets?

unless you’re as bold as Jeff Turner. The man was spotted last night walking around a foggy downtown SF in a Real Estate Zebra T-shirt and flip flops. 🙂
