Be quiet granny, or you’re sleepin’ in the pool.
Australians are smart. They have a plethora of senior citizens (Sydney’s population will blossom to over 6 million by 2036 and need 630,000 new homes to accommodate this growth) and a plethora of swimming pools (360,000 pools to be exact) so it seems practical to use these pools (many of which are unused) to put grandma six feet under. Literally. A proposal has been introduced to install “granny flats” as pictured above in the city’s unused pools.
Despite my desire to razz Australia for this hilarious move, it’s actually quite genius and shows that they’re thinking outside of the box for urban solutions. I know what you’re saying, but Lani, senior citizens probably can’t climb stairs, how will this underground living situation work? and my answer is it won’t, but it sure is fun not only to think of how to convert unused spaces AND to make allusions to granny’s six feet under.

All they need is a ramp installed over the stairs and it will work beautifully 🙂
Maybe this is what I should do with my mother in law!

Michelle, funny you say to install a ramp because Benn and I thought that some form of a half pipe skater ramp would be awesome, just roll the wheelchair down and it will eventually stop rolling after it goes up and down each side. Nice, huh? We’re creative! 🙂

Well I guess this is one reason not to be a nana yet.
