It’s that time of year again where we go to the mall so our kids can sit on bad Santa’s lap, rush around for last minute gifts, hand make wrapping paper accessories (you don’t do that, it’s just me? okay, fine), not to mention setting goals for 2011 requiring introspection about 2010. Which begs the question- have you been a good boy or girl?
The AG team was given a piece of ruled paper and one of those giant pencils to write their letter to Santa and here’s what we (those of us who could stop squirming for five seconds to write down our wish) came up with as our top wish list item:
Benn Rosales
“I would like a Sony L Series in black already loaded with the Adobe suite- it’s a touch screen pc that’s 24″ of pure awesomeness. It comes with everything- 2TB of storage, Blue Ray, plus it’s really sexy. I need a strong, fast production machine that outlasts the one year life expectancy of most desktops. Actually, I want two- one for the office and one at home.”
Ken Brand
“It’s no secret. People judge us in the blink of an eye. In the real estate business you have to look your best and ooze confidence. I’m pretty sure I could really succeed on a new level if I wasn’t balding. If Santa is really making a list I want him to put THIS on it. If that was a no-go, I’d ask for a 13 inch version of the shiny new, Macbook Air because it’s sleek, sexy and cool.”
Melissa Zavala
“No more pining away for a MacBook Pro, I finally went out and picked one up a few months ago. However, since I’m fairly practical, I would really love two wireless keyboards—one for home, and one for the office. My long term goals include closing lots of short sales, sitting a little bit further from the laptop screen, and avoiding carpal tunnel syndrome. I think that the keyboards would really help in respects. Also, I would not refuse a few wireless mice or trackpads either.”
Kye Grace
“As cliche as it is, yes the iPad would be my first pick. If I wasn’t waiting for the next generation model, so maybe just a gift card for now! For me it really is about reading web content, the rest of its function I find better done on my laptop. I spend a few hours each day catching up on blogs, articles and researching what others are doing in the online marketing space. Much of this is done while ‘reclining’ in the later hours of the evening, so something more comfortable to hold yet capable of complete browsing would make me a touch happier and more productive!”
Kelsey Teel
“Santa, could you please bring me a customized Mercedes-Benz SL600 studded with 300,000 Swarovski crystals? I know the gold one has already been sold and is rollin’ on dubs in Dubai, but Texas really needs a flashy car like this and I think I would be the best person to drive it. I would be willing to give people rides, but no one is allowed to touch the car and must wear disposable footies before entering my vehicle. Actually, I just want a MacBook Pro. See what I did there? I aimed high so my request would seem small… come on, Santa, I’ve been so good this year!”
Paula Henry
“The iPad is on the top of my list. Actually, it is my list! With the Evo4 I am buying this week, I look forward to being able to tether that baby to my iPad and having access to my presentations, website and internet access instantaneously. I may even be coerced into a few games, apps and books to use while I’m on the road and waiting.”
Anna Altic
“Sigh… Isn’t she beautiful? I harbor this romantic notion that I can conduct at least half my real estate business on bike if I set my mind to it. All she needs is a snazzy basket and a Realtor decal for the back. She would be my bold carbon neutral personal branding statement along with toning my legs and freeing my spirit. Sigh…. Does anyone have an in with Santa?”
Ben Harris
“I want to pimp and “tech up” my wheels next year and so first on my list is a car holder for my iPad -I need it beacause I spend lots of time in my car and ever since I had my iPad it travels everywhere I go with me and comes in very handy when on the move. It is currently perched on my lap as I drive which is clearly not clever or safe. So I need it to avoid being arrested for ‘driving with undue care and attention’.”
Lani Rosales
“I have all of the tech toys that I want and I’ll go against the grain and wish for NOTHING pertaining to Apple products, instead I wish for funny things. I really enjoy funny shirts and the one pictured to the left is one that I really want and would appreciate if Santa would bring it down my chimney. But if he believes Sugar Hill Gang invented rap and disagrees with the assertion, then I want a handmade necklace featuring an outlet and a fork, crafted locally by a fellow Austinite. Santa will say that it’s impossible and I’ll tell him to quit being lazy and go to Etsy.com (see? here it is, it’s real!).”

I thought real estate agents always wanted higher inflation rates.

I like the iPad car holder, particularly if the new iPads come out with cameras on both sides. I’ll really be in geek heaven then!

I want a new super-righthand-man/woman to replace the one who graduated to regular, in-the-trenches agent status. Problem is, the last one set the bar so high, nobody will touch it. Alas, I’d love a system that’d allow a Boomer to learn Spanish without goin’ to hell and back.
Merry Christmas everybody.

So you want a worker and you want to learn Spanish… are these two correlated? Hmmm…

I asked Santa for that last year, he told me to ask the White House who told me to ask Santa. Infinite loop. Looks like we’ll just have to do it ourselves 🙂

Recovery of housing market = higher real estate prices? Higher real estate prices = inflation.
The government is doing too much to prop up real estate prices. Let prices fall to a market clearing prices. Free markets means prices fall sometimes. Neither the White House nor Santa should try to make prices rise.

World Peace – but I’ll settle for a 7th Steeler Super Bowl….
@Lani – if you’d really put some thought into it, that necklace would be GFCI-protected for those summer Austin storms!
@Bawldguy – Feliz Navidad!

I actually would like a new house in 2011!
We finally got a rental contract on our Chicago home this week (couldn’t sell, boo, but renting will do) and come Jan will be in the process of moving to Atlanta. Sunnier days here I come! Once Jan 15th hits, we are homeless. Need to find something fast! If only I knew a good Realtor in Atlanta…. 🙂
