Net neutrality these days
If you are an avid AG reader, you’re well informed, so it is likely that you are so over listening to everyone in your feed rant about net neutrality. Well, since this is my first time reporting on the issue, I hope you can suck it up and try to stomach the next few paragraphs, because this is actually a pretty cool development.
Twitter is sitting pretty right now. If there’s a YouTube video out there, it’s been tweeted. If there’s an Instagram photo that’s getting some attention, you know someone tweeted it. And if you’re in an argument on Facebook, you can bet your bottom dollar that a few choice quotes will probably end up on Twitter. They’re nearly as big as you can get.
And they’ve chimed in on net neutrality
That’s why it’s so freaking cool that someone with that much sway decided to chime in on the whole net neutrality debate. You might be surprised slash delighted to know that Twitter is actually for it (as AG has been for years).
Yeah, this means that they’re making a conscious decision to decline additional funds that people would have to pay to use their service. But they don’t care because they’re big shots like that.
So net neutrality isn’t Twitter’s idea, and it certainly isn’t ours. The Chairman of the FCC, Tom Wheeler, has a proposal that is supposed to be approved this week. Twitter took to their blog to voice their support of the proposal, maintaining that the web should be fair game for all sorts of folks.

My favorite quote from the blog sounded an awful lot like that Braveheart scene where homeboy is on a horse about to jack everybody else up.
In a total ‘Merica move, Twitter said that it’s imperative “that the internet remains open and continues to give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly, without barriers. This is the heart of Twitter.” Do you get the Braveheart thing now? They even said, “heart.” Case closed.
“They can take our lives, but they can never take our FREEDOM!”
