Favor app: get delivery from anywhere, even if they don’t deliver

Austin startup, Favor, goes national

The delivery service market is white-hot these days, and Favor is one of the newest apps that focuses on getting anything you need from the store (except alcohol) delivered straight to your door. They do feature restaurants in their app, but you aren’t limited to only food. Office supplies, hardware, or party supplies can all be ordered in just three clicks.

Favor has tapped into the delivery market in Austin, Houston, Dallas, and Boston. San Antonio, Atlanta, and Cambridge are coming soon, according to the website. The company recently announced that it acquired $13 million in funding from venture capital firms to improve customer service and expand its markets.

How Favor defies their competition

What makes Favor stand out from other apps is that it allows for impulse shopping and delivery from many places that don’t ordinarily deliver. Unlike GrubHub, where you order online and wait for the delivery through the restaurant, with Favor, you’re in constant communication with the runner, their term for the delivery drivers that operate with them. If the store is out of your selection, you can ask for alternatives or get an update on where the driver is.

Why small businesses should use Favor

For small businesses that sometimes need an extra hand to run errands, Favor is going to be an asset in your arsenal of outsourcing contractors. Can’t get your dry cleaning? Tap on the Favor app. Need office supplies and can’t leave the office? Tap on the Favor app.

Lunch is no problem. Instead of relying on the businesses that deliver, which typically don’t have many healthy options, you can get lunch anywhere you want right at your door.

What it costs, how it works

Favor charges around $6 per delivery, plus the cost of what you ordered. All of the payment information is handled securely through the app, so no one has access to your credit card information. You can leave a tip with the driver, and it is highly encouraged that you do so.

All runners who drive a vehicle are required to have insurance, but not every runner will be in a car. Some runners are using scooters and bicycles, making Favor more environmentally friendly. Favor is an app that you can access to have your own personal assistant when you need it.
