Hello, Odysseus. Tobey here. I’d hoped you wouldn’t continue barking up the wrong tree but that truly seems to be your modus operandi …
This is but one of the many “do as I say, not as I do” statements in your latest rant.
The merit of this video or of other topics for that matter is a debatable proposition for those who choose to debate rather than simply dismiss anyone who does not share your particular view on life, real estate and the world.
Shall we review the non-debatable propositions we have seen:
- Dual agency – evil, incarnate, no debate allowed. Of course, no less than Russell Shaw thinks your theory is a joke but why give weight to the opinion of someone who has sold scores of home this year when we can listen to you?
- Divorced commissions – must happen, no debate allowed. Again, many weighed in on the opposite side of the debate. Your response again was to dismiss their opinions as unsupportable even as support was provided.
- The “price your home correctly” video non issue. Well …
You claim to speak to the masses, to the struggling or the wannabe bloggers but yours is a terrible example for those masses. Throw away the fact you intentionally write over the heads of most. Throw away the fact you claim outright not to attempt to generate any (real estate) business from your blog. Throw away the fact that there now is a full pack of authors providing opinions and viewpoints well beyond your own – the very opinions and viewpoints that drive the bulk of your traffic these days, since most people can search YouTube for their own musical selections.
Few could accomplish what you have. Fewer still even should try.
For all the discussions I’ve had with other non-blogging agents about blogging, I’ve never told them – look at me, learn from me and I’ll show you the way. Because there is no one way of doing anything. If I choose to post a certain video because it conveys a message in a different way, I’ll do so. Chiding me later for the act shows only your own arrogance.
Maybe the problem is you’ve been so far removed from the actual work of real estate in the interest of building Odysseus Blog Consulting that you’ve lost sight of what actually is happening on the ground. I don’t know. And maybe it’s my boss’ background in journalism, particularly sportswriting, that has kept me mindful of the maxim that it’s dangerous to believe too heavily in your own press clippings.
You and I come from the same hunting breed, Odysseus. One look tells you what we have in common but there’s much that separates us. For instance, two summer knee surgeries have made me painfully aware that I was given rather short legs. Shorter than yours, actually. So be it.
The difference between you and I is I’ve learned not to overreach, both to avoid injury and to avoid what seems to keep happening to you – you bay too loudly, reach too far and end up pissing all over yourself instead of your target.
