First announced for Android smartphones, Announcify has now become available as a Google Chrome extension that reads aloud any website you’d like, with one simple click. Tired eyes or just trying to multi-task? Announcify is open to third party developers, so it will be interesting to see how their voice technology is used in other apps.
But it doesn’t stop at news stories read aloud to you, it will read your text messages to you, your Gmail messages or other web text like documents. Features include black and white lists, mute gestures, and other customizable details.
We see great uses for the app and extension:
- Have it read lengthy contracts to you while you drive.
- Bloggers that are so wordy you can barely stand it can now be read aloud to you while you do your filing.
- Share a text message with your team from your Android.
- When writing a document, have it read aloud to you to spot errors quickly.
- Have Announcify rap for you by making her read this to you.
