Google analytics video series mocks bad web practices

Google analytics video series is hilarious

If brick and mortar stores behaved in any way similar to online shopping venues, we would all tear our hair out, a sentiment Google has picked up on for their latest web video series which pokes fun at bad internet practices.

“For the holiday seasons, our team at Google Analytics thought it would be helpful (and fun) to demonstrate how missteps on the digital shelf play out in real life,” writes Clancy Childs, Google Analytics Product Manager, and Jon Day, Google Product Marketing Manager.

Each video showcases a specific problem that consumers content with as they shop online, ranging from obnoxious advertisements, bad website optimization, and inaccurate search functions.

“Sadly, many sites leave visitors frustrated – losing potential customers, However, the advantage of your online storefront is that you can understand where you’re losing customers and work to improve your shopping experience.”

In addition to humorous videos, Google offers common sense tips for overcoming these poor practices, which of course urges businesses to use Google Analytics in their quest to give better customer service through improved customer experiences. While the tips are quite simple and basic, many companies fail to meet even the lowest of standards.

“We hope this helps you find more ways to use Google Analytics to make your customers lives easier, and generate more happy and loyal customers for you – now that’s a holiday present worth giving.”

Video one: “let’s do this, keyword, now, go”

Google notes, “This humorous video highlights how some missteps in the online shopping experience would look if they actually played out in real life.”

Video two: “obviously I’m joking, aren’t I?”

“Are you distracting your customers, and deterring them from buying what they really want on your site?” Google asks.

Video three: “come back soon!” “I won’t.”

“Shopping online is meant to be easy. Find out where your customers are “checking out” with Google Analytics,” the company said.
