Google Chrome becomes more app friendly with new tabs

New features, new look

The Google Chrome browser has been known for some time now as one of the fastest, most stable browsers, and they are slowly putting more and more emphasis on Apps in the Chrome Web Store to enhance each user’s browsing experience. Now, Chrome has made some changes as seen in the video above that will make it easier to access apps, and the most appealing change is the ability to reorder items with a simple drag and drop. This change alone has several of us disabling new tab extensions and allowing Chrome to function in its new native manner.

Web Store updates rolling out as well

Changes have been made to the Web Store as well, as all apps and extensions are featured in blocks that allow users to simply hover over and click “add to chrome,” saving time and making discovery and browsing much easier to do in a rush. Some people love digging around the Web Store, but for the business professional looking to get in, get out and get on with the day, this streamlined approach is quite helpful.

In addition to the changes featured in the video and the new Web Store look and features, the Web Store has added a massive batch of new apps to the store from games to productivity tools. As Chrome improves its offering to appeal to the average consumer, the gamer, and the professional, adoption rates will continue to rise.

Changes coming soon

In the announcement of the new features, it was not mentioned when the new tab feature would go live, but it appears they are rolling it out to some users before others, so if you don’t see the new features yet, we recommend checking back tomorrow as Google is likely to roll out the new features to everyone in coming days. Google noted that more changes are on the way as well, and we will keep you up to date.
