Google Chrome beta feature
Google has announced that the biggest annoyance of web browsing has officially been fixed – now, on Google Chrome beta, users can sign in to Chrome which enables sync and brings along all of your Chrome bookmarks, passwords, and settings. Miranda Callahan, Software Engineer at Google said, “Anything you update on one device instantly updates everywhere else, and your stuff is safe in case a truck runs over your laptop.”
The other major annoyance of using a web browser is sharing a computer with multiple users. Yes, they could simply create a different user account, but let’s face it, most shared computers simply keep the same operator open and share a browser. Now, in Google Chrome beta, multiple account syncing is offered so that you can sign in and out of Google Chrome and it remembers your settings and you can switch users at any time.
How to get these features
Here is how to get the Google Chrome beta with multiple user syncing that remembers your settings and bookmarks in between devices:
- Click here to download Google Chrome beta.
- Now, go to “Options” (or “Preferences” if you’re on a Mac), click “Personal Stuff” and click “Add new user.”
Once you’ve added a new user, you’ll get a new Chrome window which will allows you to set up (yes, from scratch) your extensions, apps, bookmarks and settings. The badge in the upper corner can be named and customized so you know which user’s Chrome account is currently being used (this can be switched by clicking the badge and selecting a different user).
Callahan notes, “One thing to keep in mind is that this feature isn’t intended to secure your data against other people using your computer, since all it takes is a couple of clicks to switch between users. We want to provide this functionality as a quick and simple user interface convenience for people who are already sharing Chrome on the same computer today. To truly protect your data from being seen by others, please use the built-in user accounts in your operating system of choice.”
