Snooze button introduced to Gmail messages, hooray!

Email is frustrating

I’m absent-minded. I constantly need reminders in the forms of apps and sticky notes to get through the day. This is especially true when it comes to email. I receive emails about events, weeks, months, and even a full year in advance.

If I leave these in my inbox, I’m bound to forget them. This is where the sticky notes and apps come in to play. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could get a reminder without leaving your inbox?

Google introduces Snooze for Gmail, yay!

Sure, there are plugins and extensions that will do this for you, but it’s not the same as having something native, within your email program. Google has recently introduced a new feature that takes care of this issue: Snooze. It’s not just for the absent-minded either.

Snooze lives right inside your Gmail inbox and helps you “snooze” your emails that contain dates and times to a more convenient date. You know that hotel confirmation you can’t find anywhere?

If you snooze it to the day you need to check-in, it’ll pop up at the top your email at the right time; saving you time and stress looking for it. This works for package tracking updates, restaurant and event reservations, calendar invites, flight confirmation, rental car reservations, and anything else that needs to be remembered at a specific time or date.

A great alternative

This is a great set-it-and-forget-it alternative to some of the apps on the market doing the same thing. Snoozing a business meeting email to an hour before, could save you a considerable amount of aggravation and embarrassment if you’re prone to losing email messages. Even if you aren’t forgetful, this is a useful tool to follow up with client on a specific day/time, set goals, and generally keep a check (or double-check) on your appointments.

Have you tried Snooze yet? What do you think? Google has been working to improve their Inbox features and I think Snooze is my favorite update so far.
