Google wants to teach businesses how to business

Brush up your marketing skills with the best in the biz

If you’re trying to learn more about marketing, you might as well learn from the best. What if you could get lessons directly from the marketing team of a highly successful company such as, say, Google? Well, you’re in luck: Primer is a new pilot program steered by Google’s very own marketing team. It’s a free smartphone app featuring interactive classes – a “fast, easy way to learn new marketing skills.”

Primer is designed for people on the go. It teaches in “bite-sized lessons” that can be completed in five minute chunks, so it’s easy to squeeze in some learning on your morning commute or during your coffee break. Primer teaches marketing skills, from the most basic to the most advanced, in simple, “no nonsense, no jargon” language, so even if you’re a total newbie you’ll be able to catch on quickly and improve your skills.

Choose to skim the surface or go deep

Whether you’re a startup, a small businesses entrepreneur, or a Fortune 500 company, Primer has something to offer.  Primer covers several broad areas of expertise, including advertising, content, measurement, and strategy. Get down to specifics with lessons on branding, storytelling, remarketing, SEO, programmatic ad buying, and more. To help lock in your learning and translate it directly into action steps for your own business, each lesson ends with a personalized “next steps” list that Primer automatically saves for you, and which can be added to your to do list.

Besides tapping their own marketing talent, Google has also reached out to several experts in the field and has translated their lessons into the accessible language of Primer while making the whole she-bang easy to navigate from your mobile phone.

Primer releases new topics each week, and is soliciting suggestions for lessons at hello@yourprimer.com. It’s free, it’s educational, and it’s offered by, arguably, one of the most successful marketing teams on the planet. IF you’re trying to take your marketing skills to the next level, there’s no excuse not to try it.
