Government website helps makes sense of Obamacare

Making sense of the Affordable Healthcare Act

Small business owners wear many hats within their company and have a wide variety of responsibilities to handle even as the market evolves and changes. With the passing of the Affordable Healthcare Act (aka Obamacare), many businesses may have to modify their levels of healthcare coverage, and this can be confusing for those who aren’t well versed in how to make these changes.

Fortunately, the SBA acknowledged this need and has launched Business.USA.gov as a resource for small business owners looking for information to guide their next moves.

If you need to increase your company insurance coverage, the site takes into account your company size, location and current coverage level and points you to relevant information sources that you can use to change or maintain coverage per Affordable Care Act regulations.

Getting to the point

This benefits the small business community by providing a streamlined tool that business owners can utilize to find healthcare information specific to their region and business type and size, cutting down on the mountains of web pages and articles to read through. Business.USA.gov partners with the Department of Health and Human Services, the Treasury and numerous other federal partners that can provide counsel on the new requirements. The site also pools together other relevant information such as disaster assistance, veterans’ resources and information on taxes and credits.

In order to educate the waves of businesses that will likely have questions concerning the Affordable Care Act, the site is holding free weekly webinars every Thursday through October to bring business owners up to speed on how this will affect their companies.

Operating under the SBA’s mission to provide support to the small business community, the Business.USA.gov site aims to help business grow by connecting pertinent information from several government resources and housing it in one easily accessible place to make it simpler for owners to find the help that they need.
