Great tools for Chrome users obsessed with tabs

How many tabs do you have open right now??!

So many times we see funny stories, or touching news, but do not have the time to read about it when we see it. You can bookmark it, of course, but then you’re stuck searching through folders later, trying to remember where you saved it. Another option is leaving the story in a tab and reading it when you have time, but you run the risk accidentally closing all your tabs and losing it, or not having access to the tab when you’re on-the-go. Luckily, there are several new tools that can help you keep those stories, and access them on-the-go.

1.Pushbullet makes your tab game mobile

This first tool makes me wish I was an Android user. Pushbullet, saves you time by moving your notifications, links, and files wherever you go. You can automatically see all of you Android phone’s notifications right on your computer: see who’s calling, or read and reply to text messages, even if your phone is on silent, in another room, or out in the car. You can also send pictures, files, links and more to your other devices and friends. Send pictures and files to your phone wirelessly opening them right from the notification; no more digging through your email or Dropbox. Pushbullet also gives you the ability to push links to your phone just by right-clicking on it from your computer.

While I haven’t tried it, I did notice one thing you might want to keep in mind: everything on your phone becomes visible to Pushbullet. Currently, there is no end-to-end encryption, so there is the possibility that Pushbullet can read every conversation you’ve ever had through text, not that they would, but please keep in mind you are “sharing” your information. Reminder: always review the privacy policy before you click “accept.”

2.TabCloud will save your tab life

Aah, TabCloud. Where have you been all my life? I am prone to “accidentally” closing all twelve of my open tabs and then cursing myself for not paying attention to what I was doing. TabCloud saves you this frustration. It allows you to save any window session and restore it at a late date, even on another computer. Simply click the TabCloud icon on the menu, you will then see your current open windows and previously saved windows (if any). Then, you can save open windows, or restore saved ones. TabCloud does offer a secure login using your Google account, with the additional ability to logout on the TabCloud menu. Perfect tool for taking your tabs on-the-go with you, or to back up your tabs if you are prone to accidentally closing them.

3.The Great Suspender reduces memory use

Finally, The Great Suspender, is a lightweight Chrome extension to help reduce Chrome’s memory footprint for user that like to have too many tabs open at the same time. You can unload, park, and suspend tabs, as well as, auto-suspend tabs, to prevent the lag and drain on your browser that can occur when you have too many tabs running. The extension will automatically unload each tab, while retaining its favicon and title text. A tab can be restored, any time, by clicking anywhere on the page when you need it. This helps reduce the number of elements on your page, while reducing excessive javascripts and memory leaks. Perfect for users who are prone to keeping tabs open even when they aren’t using them, like me.

No matter how many tabs you keep open, or how you use them, the ability to save them and take them on the road with you can come in quite handy. If you don’t already have a tool to help you do this, these are definitely worth a look.
