AutoSchedule: sharing made easy for the ultra-busy

Hootsuite steps up their game today

Most of the team here at AG uses HootSuite to power our personal and professional social media efforts, but honestly, it is used begrudgingly, as there are so few viable competitors. We put up with slow load times, freezing, and more, but today, the company has added a feature that, like a giant puff of cotton candy dangled in front of a toddler, has us perked up and willing to forget everything around us for that glorious moment when we get that cotton candy we’ve been dreaming of.

Today, Hootsuite added “AutoSchedule” to their Chrome and Firefox extension called Hootlet, which has been around for about three years. What AutoSchedule does is schedules your social media messaging by automatically queuing messages throughout the day, based on two clicks while you’re on any website – without any thought as to timing, or manually entering a date, the URL you are on is magically shared later in the day. Genius! One of the most dreaded tasks is the hour in the morning post-dating tweets and manually entering dates and times, then waiting for them to load. Adios, stupid task!

While automation is criticized and lauded by social media gurus, it has become a necessary evil to managing a social media presence, so now, it is simple to spend the morning in your feed reader and with a few clicks, the information you’re looking to share can be peppered throughout the day as a supplement to your existing tweets or social media updates.

Check out how it works:

Color me impressed

But wait, there’s more. Not only do the updates to Hootlet include personalized options that allow you to enable or disable the AutoSchedule drop-down menu, but in Chrome, you have custom content sharing wherein you can select and share specific text and images found on websites through Hootlet, and you still don’t have to think about “gee, what time will this one go out?” and “wait, did I already schedule one for that hour?”

All that, and installation took four seconds and two clicks on this desktop. Color me impressed.

Download the Chrome extension or Firefox Add-on and see use instructions on on the HootSuite website.
