I’m not a cool guy anymore (as if I ever was before)

All The Cool Kids Are Doing It

OK, I know I’m not going to be with the cool crowd next week at Inman. But while my new baby Wolverine has me at home learning to be a dad, I would love for someone to bring me back a souvenir. Not the cheesy t-shirt kind of souvenir, but something that will make me a better Realtor, a better Broker, a better Marketer, a better Blogger, a cool guy! Will someone please bring me the ultimate souvenir and answer these questions:

1. What is the coolest new gadget/tech tool for real estate?
2. What is the coolest new real estate business model?
3. Who has the coolest new real estate website?
4. What’s the best new tip to convince my clients that I’m cool?
5. Who had the most punk rock attitude at Inman? (screw the norm, I’m doing it this way)
6. When will an IDX provider create T, Z, and R type tools for me to brand myself?
7. When will the housing market turn?
8. When will voice recognition, GPS and real estate data merge into a killer mobile solution?
9. How many beers does it take to turn a blogger into a splogger?
10. Who was the coolest presenter that I should be certain to see any chance I get?

Does anyone else have a souvenir request from Inman? Let’s aggregate our questions to be answered in the comments below and see if anyone is cool enough to bring us the perfect t-shirt.

    Brad –

This will be the third Connect conference I will have attended. Most (1,2,3,4,8) aren’t answered there, IMHO – they’re answered here. The value I have found at Inman is this – you get to see who the traditional leaders are, and gauge their reactions, both in conversation and body language, to some of the discussions. In addition, the Beer with Bloggers (which I’m sadly missing this year) is invaluable, and I suspect that the RE BarCamp (also missing) will be far more valuable for Realtors who actually practice real estate than Connect will be.

That said, I’m looking forward to meeting others (again) and to hearing Merlin Mann speak, as well as CR from Calculated Risk. Hugh MacLeod was great last year.

I tihk the most important “schwag” you can take away from any professional conference is ideas/knowledge. If used properly Its return on investment is much more than any can cozy or mousepad.

Not to get off topic, but…

First the Ramones now the Descendents? I officially am a fan of Brad now.

Wish I had my iPod on me right now.

@Matt Glad you caught my Descendants reference and glad to have fans. There are more punk rockers than I expected in the re 2.0 world.

Paula you are way cool. Lani is being very bad having a title like that for the post. I will speak to her, and maybe even send her to her room.

I am feeling much better now 🙂 Really though, even the uncool kids at AG, who are not attending are still cool company to keep.

Definitely more punks than one might expect! But who else to be on the edge? I’m also a new found fan of Brad’s (always liked him but now even more!) ;?) I think the tie threw me a bit… lol!

Brad; The best part of any meeting is the people – that being said some chocolate from Sf owuld not be a bad consolation. Anyone who isn’t there is a loss to all of us – we ALL want to hang out together – so maybe VAR’s next party in Baltimore ? Or NAR in Orlando –

With CR there, the shirt should read. “The truth? You can’t handle the truth!”

Driving a Jeep Wrangler while listening to the blues makes me cool. Hanging with the RE techie crowd makes me smart. Since I’m vacationing at the beach this week instead of attending Inman or RE Bar Camp, I’ll be following the tweets. That is, if Twitter can handle it!

@Bill Lubin I’m on board for NAR in Orlando. Let’s plan a tweet-together for all the cool and smart RE techies.

National Association of REALTORS Convention 2014

It’s Novermber 2014…

nar chicago…and we are all excited about the NAR convention this year.

I can’t wait to go through Finance World where we find the latest on nano-mortgage technology from Bank of United States (the company after the B of A/Citibank/ J P Morgan Chase merger) where an iris scan and fingerprints get done and the each borrower with less than 20% down get to do the new PMI, Person Mortgage Insurance, where they assign one of their friends or relatives as collateral until the loan gets paid down to 78%.

Ah, then the new key sharing device from GeBallMart (the merger result of GE, Major League Baseball and Wal-Mart) which makes your take the SATs again (paying the 475 Euro fee) in order to do a digital iPhone7.9 puzzle in order to be escorted into a property from a member of Blackwater Realty Security Services (a subsidiary of the CIA- a deal made in order to get people health care).

Ah, and the special speakers.  There’s inspiration on how to turn your life around when there are only 11 trashy women in your life that you sleep with.  Amazing how you can go from one sport to another and then to another and go from the lowest lows to the highest highers.  Yes, I am talking about Professional Bowling’s superstar, Tiger “Balls” Woods.

I can’t wait to hear was he has to say about life’s ups and downs now that my fellow agents and I have had the commissions we make revealed to the buyer before they even see a house and how the government maximized the maximum amounts to $500 for door opening/agreement and $1000 for door opening/agreement and settlement attendance.

Just like the mortgage brokers that got messed with in 09/10, we should have seen it coming but instead we lived high on the hog and laughed at the public and especially Congress.

But I can be thankful for the fact that I don’t have to fly on UseLess Airline and stay at the MarryRot in the beige rooms with the bed bugs that are the size of New York rats, I can stay home and see all that’s happening on my SuperMac 7 Apple computer with smellovision, video and scan-pay ability.

The best and the worst part is no real hangovers!
