Faux Pas
Weird how in this BHB “expose,” Duct Tape Marketing is supposedly busted for posting a video, promoting “their” conference called “Unleashed” (although Duct Tape has nothing to do with “Unleashed” which is clear from the original article excerpted below).
The team behind Search Engine Guide are presenting a marketing conference… Here’s their promo video.
Our Take
BHB infers they are being copied although the announcement for Unleashed predates the announcement for Unchained.
In an email this evening, Robert Clough of Unleashed’s organizer, SearchEngineGuide.com- “As for our background, SearchEngineGuide.com is celebrating our 10th anniversary this year. Planning for this conference started in August 2007. We registered our first of many “unleashed” domains on Aug. 28, 2007: https://www.whois.net/whois_new.cgi?d=SBMUNLEASHED&tld=com.”
Unhinged or just wishful thinking?
Per BHB- “my guess is that Duct Tape Marketing is simply simultaneously coming up with ideas that are almost as good as ours.”
Looking at the dates, Unleashed could make the same claim.
Probably just Un-Right
Many have voiced concerns about personal attacks coming out of BHB, but I took this article to be very light-hearted, although tongue-in-cheek. I decided to publish these facts because no one else is piecing this puzzle together, and it’s unfair to taint the Unleashed conference or Duct Tape Marketing without being clear with the facts (or even diminishing the image of the BHB Unchained conference for that matter). These seasoned blogs have been an extremely useful resource to growing our own company.
The facts presented clear the air.

Hi Benn,
The BHB article struck me as rather bizarre so thank you for clearing things up. John Jantsch is a good guy so perhaps Greg Swann was just having a bad day.
Kindest regards,

Nobody believes that DuctTape Marketing copied BHBU; we were remarking about the similarities. Greg mentioned synchronization to illustrate that great minds are thinking alike. No bogeyman under the bed, this time.
Mr. Clough, you might read the article and subsequent comments; you were being praised.

@ Brian: “Mr. Clough, you might read the article and subsequent comments”
Actually, I did before making any comments.
