The 2020 Topics and Trends<\/a> Report From Facebook IQ allows us to \u201csee the conversations on the cusp of going mainstream\u201d. The topics and trends are broken down by way of photography, and give us a heads up for what we\u2019re in store to see this year.<\/p>\n

Asia Pacific: \u201cThis year, we\u2019re seeing several countries draw on parts of their national cultures, from coffee crops to beauty expertise, to create something new.\u201d<\/p>\n

Australia seems to be putting an emphasis on gut health, while India is enjoying travel photography. Indonesia is focusing on Esports and online gaming, the Philippines are into a good skincare routine, and Thailand is all about coffee.<\/p>\n

Europe: \u201cIn Europe, traditions tend to hold fast. But as consumers become increasingly mindful of the ways their habits affect their bodies and the environment, they\u2019re incorporating more responsible practices and materials\u2014like sustainable textiles and meat substitutes\u2014into their local customs.\u201d<\/p>\n

France is currently big into checking the labels on their purchased products and Germany is hopping on the veggie burger train. Sweden is fashioning sustainability in their clothing and the United Kingdom is continuing the trend of fitness and are enjoying trail running while also focusing on re-commerce (think vintage clothing and re-selling).<\/p>\n

Latin America: \u201cCommunity has always been part of the fabric of Latin America. Now, as societies become increasingly urbanized and access to technology grows, we\u2019re seeing new kinds of connections form across the region, from a blossoming art scene to a growing maker movement.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Argentina, astrological intuition is all the rage (ala emotional intelligence, tarot cards, and paying close attention to what the planet Mercury is up to). Brazil is honing in on \u201cmaker culture\u201d and more people are taking on DIY mechanical projects; additionally, Brazil is doing some time traveling, as there is a major interest in \u201880s culture. Mexico is appreciating indie art spaces through enjoyment of contemporary art, art installations, and workshops; Mexico is also appreciating Japanese culture, as seaweed, matcha, and soybeans are trending.<\/p>\n

North America: \u201cIn North America, a sense of individualism often drives people\u2019s choices, and this year, flexitarian diets, indoor gardens and other custom combinations are helping people have it their way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Canada is seeing an influx in beekeeping as well as plant parents (with succulents, houseplants, and air purifiers being the major trends). The U.S. is loving on self-care in the form of a good bath (equip with milk, sea salt, and chill-out music), plant-based diets, and good entertainment (podcasts, miniseries, and adapted materials).<\/p>\n
