Looking ahead to International Women\u2019s Day (March 8, 2020), Pinterest shared their data on trending searches by women<\/a>. According to the lifestyle-heavy social platform, “As the global income of women reaches trillions of dollars, women are expected to control almost 75% of discretionary spending worldwide by 2028.<\/p>\n

These women are using Pinterest to find ideas for dinner, travel, home and family clothing choices. But, the how-tos and inspiration go beyond recipes, holidays and styling as women also use the platform for tips for buying their first home, traveling solo, and negotiating salary.”<\/p>\n

Top trends include solo living, climbing the workplace ladder, and collaborating with others. This all comes on the tail of the Pinterest 100<\/a> report which dug into the top trends pinners are likely to search in 2020.<\/p>\n

For Living Solo, it appears that more and more women are embracing and investing their time and energy into living single. Searches for \u201csolo travel\u201d increased by 63 percent, which is a good piece of data for travel-based companies to be aware of so that they can cater to this rising trend.<\/p>\n

Additionally, searches for solo date ideas are up 57 percent. \u201cThink about how you may want to spend a Saturday as a date day for yourself,\u201d says self-care expert, Marla Goldberrg<\/a>. \u201cDo you want to take a hike or exercise? Head to a spa for a massage or another treatment of choice, then back home to refresh and head out to a new restaurant or possibly a fundraiser? There are so many options that one has to honor and treat themselves.\u201d This is another valuable piece of data that event, lifestyle, and entertainment industries can be capitalizing on.<\/p>\n

Finally, realtors will be interested to know that the search of \u201cbuying your first home\u201d spiked up 124 percent. According to the National Association of Realtors<\/a>, 18 percent of homes last year were purchased by single women, compared to nine percent single males and eight percent unmarried couples.<\/p>\n

When it comes to Rising in the Ranks, searches for \u201cbusiness ideas startup\u201d went up a whopping 941 percent. After that, searching \u201chow to ask for a raise at work\u201d went up 254 percent, while \u201cnegotiating a new salary\u201d increased by 32 percent.<\/p>\n

Heading back to school is also a major interest on the minds of women. The search \u201cgoing back to school as a mom\u201d increased by 53 percent.<\/p>\n

Power to the Partnership helps celebrate the positive support system surrounding women. The search \u201cinspirational quotes for women motivation\u201d increased by 755 percent, \u201cinspirational quote for women encouragement\u201d increased by 300 percent, and \u201cgirls support girls quotes\u201d increased by 399 percent.<\/p>\n

Also tracked were increases in searches by men in the avenue of helping split more chores and expanding responsibilities around the house. Searches by men for \u201chairstyles for kids\u201d went up 247 percent, while \u201ckids braided hairstyles\u201d increased by 203 percent. \u201cCleaning schedules\u201d increased by 343 percent, \u201chouse cleaning tips\u201d by 193 percent, and \u201ceasy family dinner ideas\u201d by 35 percent.<\/p>\n
