Either due to lack or availability or not having the finances to afford a mortgage. <\/p>\n<p>The 2014-15 housing market was recently scrutinized and the current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/housing\/hvs\/index.html\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Census Bureau<\/a> estimates in addition to the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/economistsoutlook.blogs.realtor.org\/2015\/12\/16\/how-many-houses-are-vacant-at-your-zip-code\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">American Community Survey<\/a> demonstrates that Housing vacancies are currently at the lowest levels since at least 2005.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><i class=\"icon-bookmark\"><\/i> <strong>Read also: <a href=\"https:\/\/therealdaily.com\/board-associations\/state-association-tackles-tricky-topic-of-redeveloping-abandoned-properties-to-improve-communities\/\">State association tackles tricky topic of redeveloping abandoned properties to improve communities<\/a><\/strong><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theamericangenius.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/the-real-daily-news.png\" alt=\"bar\" width=\"100\" height=\"19\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-91813\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Hey buddy, can you spare a house?<\/h2>\n<p>According to an <a href=\"https:\/\/economistsoutlook.blogs.realtor.org\/2015\/12\/16\/how-many-houses-are-vacant-at-your-zip-code\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Economist Outlook article<\/a> nationally, \u201c<em>the rental vacancy rate was 7.3 percent while homeowner housing rate was 1.9 percent for the third quarter 2015.<\/em><em>Conversely, out of the 32,634 zip codes, 79 percent had a vacancy rate\u00a0less than 25 percent, 16 percent had\u00a025 to 50 percent, 4 percent had\u00a050 to 75 percent,\u00a0and 1 percent had\u00a075 percent and higher<\/em>.\u201d At the other end of the spectrum, Pennsylvania (8.5% of the housing units) and New York (5.9% of the housing units) had the most zip codes with zero percent housing vacancy rate.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously every zip code is different. I looked up mine and found there were only 38 vacancies among houses. Only 38 houses for sale. The highest vacancy rates are in metro areas with many vacation homes.<\/p>\n<h2>Vacancies fall, rent rises<\/h2>\n<p>Meanwhile, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jchs.harvard.edu\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University<\/a> recent\u00a0<em>The State of the Nation\u2019s Housing 2015 <\/em><em>reports<\/em> that the growing number of renter households has stressed the rental housing market nationwide, causing vacancies to fall while rents continue to rise. <\/p>\n<p>The national rental vacancy rate in 2014 fell to its lowest point (7.6%) in twenty years, while rents rose at 3.2%, twice the rate of inflation. And while 1.2 million apartments were added to the market since 2010, they serve the higher end of the market, with a 2013 median rent of $1,290.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>At this amount, more than two-thirds of renter households cannot afford market rent.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We keep hearing there are too many individuals looking to rent or buy and not enough houses or apartments.
