The city of Las Vegas had some of\u00a0the most foreclosures\u00a0in the whole\u00a0country\u00a0from 2009 to 2011, and\u00a0residents\u00a0continue\u00a0to be forced from\u00a0their homes.<\/p>\n<p>Now here\u2019s a crazy scenario: Las Vegas is 32 percent Latino, and Latinos make up more than\u00a0a quarter of Nevada&#8217;s population, higher than all but four other states.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>That means there\u2019s a lot at stake in terms of voter turnout for the upcoming Nevada Primary.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>There is nothing wrong with those statistics, but now for the crazy part:<\/strong> Nevada was hard\u00a0hit by the financial crisis of 2008, which disproportionately affected\u00a0minority homeowners, kicked out of their homes by banks\u00a0when they could no longer\u00a0afford their\u00a0mortgage payments. According to an article on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telesurtv.net\/english\/news\/US-Foreclosure-Crisis-Makes-It-Hard-to-Reach-Voters-in-Nevada-20160214-0023.html\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">telesurtv.com<\/a>, \u201c<em>that means\u00a0many\u00a0voters now\u00a0have new addresses, phone numbers and other data essential for campaigning but the campaigns of\u00a0Bernie\u00a0Sanders\u00a0and Hillary\u00a0Clinton are struggling to find that information<\/em>.\u201d<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><i class=\"icon-bookmark\"><\/i> <strong>Read also: <a href=\"https:\/\/therealdaily.com\/politics\/nar-presidential-election\/\">What is the extent of NAR\u2019s role in the Presidential election?<\/a><\/strong><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theamericangenius.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/the-real-daily-news.png\" alt=\"bar\" width=\"100\" height=\"19\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-91813\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Hard to reach<\/h2>\n<p>So the clock is ticking but campaign volunteers for Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders who would normally find themselves on the pavement and on the phone and anywhere else that volunteers are hankering to connect with voters are literally feeling the heat.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-usa-election-nevada-idUSMTZSAPEC2EJUFIWJ\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Reuters news article<\/a>, \u201c<em>both campaigns have reported that the high number of foreclosures\u00a0in Nevada has\u00a0slowed down canvassing and increased their workload as they try to\u00a0correct\u00a0their outdated\u00a0data, taking away volunteers from other efforts<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In Las Vegas\u00a0County, one fifth of registered voters are inactive with invalid addresses.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The city of Las Vegas had some of\u00a0the most foreclosures\u00a0in the whole\u00a0country\u00a0from 2009 to 2011, and\u00a0residents\u00a0continue\u00a0to be forced from\u00a0their homes.<\/p>\n<h2>Anybody home?<\/h2>\n<p>Reuters goes on to say that \u201c<em>with the foreclosed homes often switching hands multiple times &#8211; from homeowner to bank to investor and back to another homeowner in just a few years &#8211; keeping up with voters who at some point lived in those homes is difficult<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In fact, campaign managers for both candidates comment that \u201c<em>data that might have been corrected in the 2012 general election has, in many cases, already fallen out of date again because the Nevada housing market has continued to see wave after wave of foreclosures<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Consider this: In Clark County, where Las Vegas is located, a fifth of the 1 million voters registered, are tagged as inactive.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The importance of connecting with voters can&#8217;t be underestimated.
