IBM makes bold predictions
Each year, IBM predicts the future of technology through their forecast of five innovations that will “help transform aspects of modern life, making the planet smarter, within the next five years,” an initiative called the IBM 5 in 5. For their five predictions, IBM looks at the availability of new technologies, but more importantly, they analyze the likelihood of its large scale adoption.
If any company had the bandwidth to make the future of technology come to fruition, IBM certainly could – is this one of their ways of sharing their technological playbook for coming years? Possibly.
This year, IBM predicts that you will never need a password again, that devices will soon read minds, that the digital divide will cease to exist, junk mail will become priority mail and people power will come to life.
Below are all five predictions and are all worth the time to watch (they are all roughly one minute each). After watching, you will probably feel like the innovations in Tom Cruise’s Minority Report might actually be coming to fruition, this is fascinating.
1. Power your home with your body’s energy
2. Your biological makeup IS your password
3. Electronic devices will read your mind
4. The digital divide will die
5. People may not hate junk mail
Do you agree or disagree with any of IBM’s assertions about the future?
