Got a podcast? This tool lets listeners interact in real time

It’s about time

Podcasts of all types have been on the up and up: In 2014, podcast subscriptions passed the 1 billion mark, with monthly podcast listeners number 75 million per month. Those numbers have been steadily increasing over the last year.

Big audience draw, meet fan interactivity

While they have been exploding in popularity lately, the medium and its adoring fans aren’t new. Podcasts have been around for over 10 years. However, for many, podcasts truly came of age as a media format last year with the rise of This American Life’s Serial.

The podcast draws hard-core fans who want to listen to other people talk about, well, pretty much everything. Nowadays there are thousands of dedicated podcasts for your favorite sports, films and other subjects. While the idea of listening to the spoken word may seem slightly old-fashioned, the main appeal of podcasts lies in the ability of listeners to handpick content they are truly interested in.

Within this podcast renaissance, podcasts are certainly en vogue. And new interactive podcast tool, Remarks, is looking to add a new element to the traditional podcasting platform by allowing users to interact with the host and other fans while they listen.

Leave comments on specific times in the episode (and more)

Remarks is a free podcasting app for hosts and listeners alike to discuss thoughts and opinions about the episode they’re listening to. Envision it as the podcast version of Soundcloud. While SoundCloud features some interactivity, Remarks is specifically designed to stimulate interaction between users and hosts.

With the app, listeners can leave comments on episodes they’re listening to. What’s more is that comments can be left during specific times of the episode whenever you feel compelled to jump in and participate in the dialogue or start your own. What’s even better is that Remarks let’s you post your thoughts via text, photo, link, or GIF. According to the app’s site, they’ve got all of your favorite podcasts.

App is available in the Apple app store.
