Katy Perry: finally, an Obamacare expert who read the bill

Celebrities on Obamacare

Before The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) last night, Katy Perry got a shoutout retweet and thanks from President Obama’s Twitter account for her random and spontaneous reading, understanding, and public endorsement of The President’s Affordable Care Act, appropriately named Obamacare.

Apparently other shills celebrities who have read and fully understand the Affordable Care Act and will randomly, authentically, socially support it using social and other media may include:

  • Amy Poehler
  • Kal Penn
  • Jennifer Hudson
  • Michael Cera
  • Oprah Winfrey
  • Bon Jovi
  • Alicia Keys
  • Jason Derulo
  • Daniel Kellison
  • Andrew Lenchewski

…to name a few.

Funny or Die has committed to producing funny online public awareness videos at no cost to taxpayers, and we must assume that they too have read and completely know what is in the Affordable Care Act. Funny or Die tells the Washington Post, “there are lots of [celebrities] who are wanting to commit their time and talent” in support of the PSAs.

Bet your bottom dollar they mean it

So, when you see impassioned pleas from these and other performers for you to register for Obamacare on October 1st, you can believe that their endorsement means they fully support every word, every tax, fine, and penalty within the legislation, whether it’s a success or a failure.

They’re also obviously taking responsibility in their acute awareness that large corporations have escaped the employer mandate until 2015 so you won’t be kicked off of your insurance plan during the midterm elections, and for the state insurance exchanges that all agree will not be ready in time, as well as the large number of labor unions who have lined up for waivers to exempt members from Obamacare.

Katy Perry’s own lyrics said it best: “I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything.”
