Konnects is Ill Will Hunting and Bagging Big Game

Konnects – a new self-proclaimed business network. I received an invitation to join from someone I don’t really know, but what the hay – I try to keep informed. After touring the Konnects site, I wrote this post over on ActiveRain.

Today, I received this email from a LinkedIn connection that I have referred leads to:

You may have received an invitation from me asking you to join a network called Konnects. These email invitations (and any duplicates or reminders you may receive) were sent without my permission. I received an invitation to connect from someone else, and when I went to the site to accept his invitation, the system sent emails to my entire address book even after I specified that I didn’t want it to! I’m working with their customer support to stop any more of those emails from going out in the future.

In fact, I’m going to cancel the Konnects account because I really prefer LinkedIn as an online networking tool. They are the pioneers in this area, and they have the most members. If you want to join my professional network on LinkedIn, you can visit my profile and we can connect there instead.

Again, I’m sorry for all those emails, and I look forward to connecting with you in the future!

Where’s the genius in this marketing plan?

Think more than twice before jumping into every new offer on the block. Maybe that old adage still holds water in a web 2.0 world – if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
