Insanely useful Gmail plugin
Almost a year ago today, AGBeat introduced you to Rapportive.com, a Gmail plugin that shows you everything about your contacts right inside your inbox through a simple plugin.
The company describes their offering as a tool with which “You can immediately see what people look like, where they’re based, and what they do. You can establish rapport by mentioning shared interests. You can grow your network by connecting on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and more. And you can record thoughts for later by leaving notes.”
The company has announced that they have been acquired by LinkedIn and will continue to be supported. Rahul Vohra, CEO of Rapportive hints at things to come, noting that “When we founded Rapportive, we had one simple belief: we would build software that you don’t have to remember to use.”
The company added, “Our software would be an intrinsic part of the tools you use every day. It would be there when you want it, and out of the way when you don’t.”
TechCrunch.com has confirmed the terms of the deal were $15 million cash and the Rapportive team will stay in tact. This could mean more integration of LinkedIn into email services in a way that helps any professional to not only stay organized but more efficiently build their social sphere online in a meaningful way.
