Microcone is a multi-directional microphone
There are a lot of microphones on the market. Some are tiny, some are huge, some are traditional, some are oddly shaped, some clip on, others are wireless, but the Microcone offers a new take on what a microphone should do. The multi-directional microphone is designed specifically for group conversations, perfect for teams communicating virtually with each other or their consultants.
Based in Australia, Dev-Audio launched the Microcone Recorder to answer to the need of recording meetings, making it more than just a stellar tool for Skyping better. Having already won numerous awards like the Telstra Innovation Challenge, the Australian International Design Awards, and most recently named Best of Show award at Macworld in San Francisco, the device is not likely done with racking up trophies.
What makes Microcone so innovative
We have not yet tested out the device that costs a hefty $359, but for larger teams, it would be worth the expense, as it not only helps digital communications, but records meetings and then (and here’s the best part), it transcribes them. The unique solution uses a patented microphone array technology to distinguish voices based on the location of people around a table, as well as reducing background noise and reverberation.
The company explains that “Unlike any other system currently on the market, it separates and identifies each voice in a group using a single device, and integrates with speech-to-text web services from Nuance for audio transcription. The Microcone Recorder applications then provides an enriched meeting record that can be quickly searched by speakers and keywords, and browsed according to a visual timeline of a conversation.”
Whether team meetings or heck, even meetings with clients, the audio backup of all communications, particularly a record that can be searched, is tremendously helpful across all industries.
