NeverWet: invisible paint seen only when it rains

A guerrilla marketer’s dream: invisible paint

You may have heard of Rust-Oleum NeverWet, the spray paint that coats any surface making it water proof – most illustrations have shown shoes sprayed with the spray and then dunked in mud, coming out completely perfectly pristine.

But some creative uses have emerged that are any guerrilla marketer’s dream, as the silicon-based spray can repel liquid and comes out invisible. Read: you can spray it somewhere and it remains invisible until it gets wet… like concrete… like sidewalks. Bingo!

Whether NeverWet used for safety reasons (painting “slippery when wet” outside of your building) or for street art (which comes alive in the rain), the spray can be used on stone, concrete, or even wood, and with a simple stencil pattern, the invisible paint becomes visible in the rain.

The bigger, the better!

If you have a creative streak in you, consider trying NeverWet in your own clever ways, stenciling your logo on your office’s front door step (if it’s allowed) or making an invisible mural on the side of your building. Your parking lot, if you have domain over it, is also a creative place to try out NeverWet.

The bigger you can get your art, the better, and it gives you something to tweet and Instagram about, and if it’s cool enough, maybe others will be attracted to photograph it themselves and put it on their own social networks.

Remember, however, that as with any spray paint, you must only use it in areas where it is legal and/or you have control over. Using it on sidewalks at conferences seems like a great idea, but when you’ve left town and your logo is still on the ground, the local authorities might not think it is as clever as you do.
