Blocbox offers you a way to make extra money while helping out your neighbors. You can get help with things like package deliveries, letting a service person into your home, walking your dog, tool rental, house sitting, and more. Blocbox is a bit like a community center. All you do is log into their platform and find a verified Blocbox host in your neighborhood willing to help you out with those tasks. Hosts will then confirm their neighborhood connections to ensure that they can help you out.
If you’re in need of package services, you can ship your package directly to the host, track it online, and then coordinate pickup through Blocbox’s shared calendar. You can see which dates your host is home for pickup and swing by when it’s convenient. This is super handy for people that travel, taxed with running errands several times a day, or just want to pick up packages without worry about watching the door. This is also a great way for individuals that work from home to earn a little extra money by doing the tasks you are already doing for yourself.
The potential hiccup
I love the idea of neighbors helping neighbors. The only thing I would like to know more about is how hosts are verified. If you ship something to a host and can see it was delivered, but the package somehow disappears, what plan is in place to replace your missing items?
I don’t like to be the nay-sayer, but I also wouldn’t want to have to replace something I already paid to have delivered. Outside of this one small caveat however, I think this is a great service.
