Top 10 web brands of the year
As the lights dim on the year, Nielsen reviewed the most visited web brands in America with Google topping the list by a healthy margin. As the top search destination, the household name launched their social network whose growth is rapidly accelerating and projected to hit over 400 million users in 2012, making it the clear winner this year.
The top ten web brands are dominated by search with Google seeing an average of over 153 million unique visitors each month and Facebook coming in as a trailing second with 137 million average monthly unique visitors. Surprisingly, Yahoo! takes the third spot with 130 million average monthly unique visitors. MSN/Windows Live/Bing who were analyzed separately but are partnered with Yahoo! came in fourth with nearly 116 million average monthly unique visitors.
Below is the full list of the top 10 web brands for the year, according to Nielsen. It is our prediction that 2012 will feature many of these names, but the order will not look the same next year but will see some rise, others fall, yet Google will most likely remain on top.
