Tablet use on the rise
Americans are buying tablets in droves, rushing to snatch up the devices as additional computing devices with a 2011 study revealing that Android smartphone users are more likely to buy an iPad than an Android tablet, creating a bitechtual consumer base.
Now, eMarketer is reporting that by the end of this year, they predict that America will be comprised of 34 million tablet computer users with 83 percent using an iPad. The number of iPads owned in the U.S. jumped 160 percent over last year’s 13 million owned, but eMarketer predicts iPads heyday will diminish a bit but remain the most common tablet owned.
By 2014, it is predicted that there will be 61 million iPad users in the U.S. but the market share they will own is expected to drop to 68 percent of the estimated 90 million total tablet users in the country but it is unclear who they predict iPad’s main competitors will be.
