IFTTT is a time saver
IFTTT (If This, Then That) is an incredibly easy to use website that allows you set up or copy recipes for automating just about anything. IFTTT creates a digital link bond between channels. We have written numerous times about this handy tool, but in essence it works with sixty nine different channels, including the major social media channels, and aids the process of filling out simple online forms.
There is a wide array of pre-existing recipes for you to use, which can automate a wide variety of tasks. One of my favorites allows you to add followers who have mentioned or retweeted you to a private list by collecting the tweeter’s data from your Gmail account. You no longer need to comb through your emails searching for followers’ usernames and then copy them over to your Twitter account manually. Just plugin the IFTTT recipe and it will do all the work for you.
Enter a super helpful recipe – it’s super
This particular recipe picks up the “mentioned you on Twitter” keyword phrase and your Twitter handle to construct a private list on Twitter that you can go through later. To keep your engagement high, you can thank them later or actively engage them on the network (there is a recipe for this too). You can modify the search query on Gmail and specify your own using advanced Google Search operators.
This is especially useful if you are in charge of handling the social media marketing for your company’s brand, but it is also useful for your personal Twitter account. In any given day, you can easily receive upwards of one hundred tweet and retweets and trying to mine data from your inbox can be both daunting and frustrating.
IFTTT can set up automated triggers for nearly 89,000 things between any web services that allow a public API. That includes some of your favorite social networking websites. So, cook a few recipes that will help you use your social networks more effectively. Now, it is as easy as pushing a button and it keeps you from wasting your day sifting through endless amounts of information and email.
