Realtors, are you listening to your consumers? Do it creatively, anonymously

Can you hear me now? Are you listening? Feedback forms on your website are great and your TweetDeck column searching for your name or brokerage are great and should be kept up.

Your involvement online is great, but sometimes people feed you lip service because everything said is in public or there is threat of their emails being the subject of a blog article.

Now admittedly, it takes a brave person to do the following, but we encourage you to ask your consumers, be they future, present, or past to opine about you anonymously.

Asking on your Facebook page with a link to one of the following is a good start or even over email or Twitter:

  1. Ask consumers to anonymously email you with BetterMe. The free service claims to make anonymous feedback constructive which is always helpful.
  2. Whatiswrongwith.me gives you a link to provide to people who can either anonymously give you feedback or provide their name. IP addresses are masked so you can’t see who is writing you. We saw a link recently in someone’s email signature- THAT is brave!
  3. FriendFeedback is super simple and is another way to ask for anonymous comments about you.
  4. For a more positive spin, ask your social networks to tell you ThreeWords that best describe you.
  5. Set up a profile on Failin.gs and ask for feedback with the obvious intent that you want to improve rather than inviting random criticism.
  6. Have a Say at Me is cool in that it solicits the anonymous feedback and lets you publish your favorite (favorable OR items you can repair) publicly.

Word of warning- not all feedback will be constructive. It will be tempting for your competitors or enemies (or frienemies) to comment to you without repercussion and yes, there could be cussing involved. That said, there could be a diamond in the rough- maybe you don’t know you’re abrasive, or maybe your taking two hours to call someone back was offensive, or perhaps your laid back nature rubbed a traditional consumer the wrong way. Those things can be fixed or adjusted, so if you’re brave, have at it!

So tell us in comments- how will you listen to the most harsh criticism- the feared anonymous feedback?
