Realtors, is your city photographed more by locals or tourists?

Local photography

We came across an interesting photo set featured by travel website Hipmunk that shows on a map occurrences of local photography versus tourist photography (likely based on the city the user indicated as their hometown in their profile versus the location of the image taken).

We like the idea of featuring these maps on your own real estate blog to show which areas of your cities are tourist areas or to highlight the most highly photographed features of your area, or even simply show your city through an alternative lens.

The maps are created from data on geotagged photos and Hipmunk encourages people to “Discover what cities are almost entirely photographed by tourists and discover new places to photograph that only the locals know about — you’ll likely be surprised…”

Eric Fisher featured many American cities amongst other international cities.
