Why you should consider hiring introverts

Why introverts are awesome

Introverts are often overlooked because of perceived shyness, soft-spokeness, or shying away from certain social situations, but introverts have many talents that can be useful for your company; many of which may not be readily apparent in the initial interview.

Many introverts like to observe their surroundings before engaging in them and this can make interviewing painfully difficult. Introverts also like to choose their words carefully; thinking over what they say before they say it. This is refreshing given that we live in a world where people speak what is on their mind without much thought.

Also, even though social skills are not typically attributed to introverts, their skills are just as good as extroverts; they just need a bit more time to adjust to their surroundings before they can interact with everyone else. However, once they are adapted to the situation, they tend to provide deeper insight to topics because they are keen observers.

Other desirable traits of an introvert

According to Introvert Spring, introverts are also capable of intense concentration, which keeps productivity maximized and focus at the forefront.

Introverts are also wise; they are capable of deep introspection and reflection allowing deep analysis and insight. Introverts are also incredibly creative, as they have vivid imaginations, thoughts, and ideas. It is also easy for introverts to tap into their creative processes because they enjoy solitude and can spend enough time alone to fully flesh out an idea or concept.

Introverts often pick up on subtleties that others may miss, which makes them a valuable asset in team meetings. Even though they are slow to let people in, but once they do, they are incredibly loyal, which is great for retention and fostering long-term relationships. While introverts are great listeners, they also want to feel heard.

So, make sure they are included in the discussion and decision making process; even if you have to prod them a little to get their opinion, it will be more than worth your effort.
